"I would just like to say that DNS2GO has been EXTREMELY helpful in allowing
me to setup a redundant website with multiple entry points, using standard
cable modems.
My wife and sister-in-law run a hobby website at www.riptx.net.
Since my sister-in-law spends the most time working on the site, I was able
to put a server at her house, attached to the cable modem. Running DNS2Go,
I was able to set up that server to host the website. Then, since cable
modems often have "down times" at her location, and since I have a static
IP on my cable modem, I have the site setup to replicate itself to mine.
The DNS2GO service is configured to "fall-back" to my IP address in the
event of her modem failing.
Using a conventional DNS service to alias the URL in a Frame, the visitors
to the website have no idea we use anything but a normal hosting service,
and don't see that the site is hosted on a port other than 80. It works
wonderfully, gives me the added security of being on a port other than 80,
and gives me high availability, all at the same time.
I've even managed to have the MX records use the DNS2Go service so that
email to the site is also redundant (my server will accept when hers is down,
and then forward once hers is back up). DNS2Go has allowed me to setup a
highly efficient, scalable, transparent webmail and web host for very
little money. Thanks DEERFIELD!"
